Maryland DECA Student State Officer Team

Executive State President

Hey Maryland DECA! My name is Katie Yuan and I'm a junior at Richard Montgomery HS. I'm honored to serve as your 2021-2022 State President! Although COVID-19 has presented many challenges this past year, we made it together! This year, I will be striving to lower cost barriers, elevate your voices, and engage DECA members with entrepreneurial and professional opportunities. I can't wait to meet everyone and am excited to see what this year will bring. Please don't hesitate to shoot me an email or DM with any questions!

Executive Vice President

Hey Maryland DECA! My name is Noah Pearlman, and I am honored to be serving as your 2021-2022 Executive Vice President. This year, I will increase networking opportunities for the purpose of individual, chapter, and community growth. To do this, I will connect chapters through networking events, connect chapter officers, and connect individuals to spur statewide growth. I would also like to create a smoother flow of logistics when it comes to registering for our State Career Development Conference. I will be working with all chapters to expand networking, regardless of chapter size. I hope that these experiences will allow you to not only grow as business professionals, but individuals as well. Most importantly, I want to learn about what drives you so I can best represent you as a state officer. If you have any questions, ideas, comments, or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out. I want to hear your voice! I look forward to another fantastic year.

Vice President Chapter Development

Hi Maryland DECA! My name is Rachel Wang, and I’m excited to serve as your 2021-2022 VP of Chapter Development! To grow the MD DECA community, I intend to expand DECA chapter development across the state. While revitalizing our current Region 1 chapters, I plan to establish new chapters at schools in Regions 2, 3, 4, and 5. Seeing as DECA provides an incredible platform for competitive business education, it also offers huge potential as a platform for business-oriented students to connect. As such, I aim to frequently coordinate virtual student networking events for MD DECA to bond as a community. If you ever want to chat -- reach out to me anytime! I’m incredibly psyched for the upcoming DECA season with you all.

Vice President Public Relations

Hey Maryland DECA, my name is Rafe and I’m the new Vice President of Public Relations. This has been a tough year for everyone, but DECA is resilient. What we’ve accomplished this year considering the circumstances is amazing and I’m looking forward to building on what we have done so far. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time!

Vice President Region 1

Hi Maryland DECA! My name is Feileen, and I'm incredibly honored to be your Region 1 Vice President. Last year was a difficult time for all of us, so this year I'm looking towards cultivating the DECA experience you deserve. I'm looking forward to increasing personal outreach within the region and Maryland as a whole in order to get better insight on your opinions, hosting a successful regional, and giving you the opportunities you need to develop your business and networking skills. I want to bridge the disconnect that can occur between the leadership and members of DECA by ensuring that you have a Region 1 Vice President who you can communicate with and relay any of your questions or concerns to. DECA has helped me to grow in so many ways and I hope that I can share that experience with you. As such, I am so incredibly excited to work with you all and develop DECA into something unforgettable for each and every one of us.

Working to continue to grow Maryland DECA

Melody Cheng

Executive State President

Hey MD DECA! I’m so excited to serve as your 2020-2021 State President! This year, I’d like to focus on enhancing the “DECA experience”. Whether it be learning more about how to manage a business or sharpening your communication skills, I want to help. I’d like to increase member accessibility to critical resources by implementing hands on enrichment workshops to bridge the gap between the high school business sphere and the professional environment. DECA members will be able to network with business professionals and learn important skills that will carry into competitions and be applied in their daily lives. As we grow together, I would also like to bring Maryland DECA together at community events and fundraisers that will enable members to foster long term connections with each other. These experiences will simultaneously enable members to have fun and connect with the community more deeply. By immersing ourselves with new experiences and taking risks, we will not only enhance our growth and strength as individuals, but fortify our strength as a team as well. Together, we will work towards making Maryland DECA the best it can be! I look forward to a great year!

Abby Chen

Executive State Vice President

Hi, Maryland DECA! My name is Abby Chen, and I'm so excited to be serving as your 2020-2021 Executive Vice President! This year, I want to learn about your interests, so I can begin to incorporate them into our events. I plan to give you more opportunities to network and make meaningful connections in the business world, as well as more opportunities to interact with your fellow DECA members so we can be a strong and united Maryland DECA. Finally, I want to organize state-wide fundraisers to increase funds for each chapter and Maryland DECA. I can't wait for an amazing year!

Shariar Vaez-Ghaemi

Executive State Vice President, Chapter Development

Hi, MD DECA! I’m Shariar, you’re VP of Chapter Development. My goal is to start new chapters throughout Maryland and to ensure that each existing chapter grows in membership. If you have any questions about DECA, email me at [email protected]

Ellen Zhang

Region One Vice President

Hi Maryland DECA, my name is Ellen Zhang and I am your region 1 vice president. I am so honored to serve such an amazing community of talented individuals this year. During my term, I plan to focus on expanding Maryland DECA, creating a stronger sense of unity among members, and coordinating a successful regional. I look forward to working with you to make Maryland DECA bigger and better! If you have any questions, feel free to DM me.

Damon Termini

Executive State Vice President, Public Relations

DECA is massive, and with anything so big, communication is key. There are so many events that we have access to, each and every person should have the ability to attend, so we must get the word out. We already have a website, but that's not enough. I am proposing social media accounts to inform and update, as well as share our experiences in DECA, presentations to schools, promotions for events in advance, so your clubs can organize and decide with plenty of time. I am here to enable your future adventures with DECA. and am looking forward to a memorable year.
