Working to Continue Growing Maryland DECA
Rachel Wang
President
Hi Maryland DECA! My name is Rachel Wang, and I am honored to serve as your 2022-2023 Maryland DECA President.
This year, my priority is to bring the DECA experience to more students through chapter expansion. Our team will work to coordinate business opportunities beyond our annual conferences, including business panels, workshops, and networking events. I will institute platforms for increased student voice in order for state decision-making to be more reflective of all DECA members.
If you have any questions or ideas, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I am so excited for another incredible year with our MD DECA community.
Era Qerimi
Vice President
Hello Maryland DECA! My name is Era Qerimi and I am a junior at Walt Whitman High School. I am honored to be your 2022-2023 Executive Vice President. I will work towards connecting with local businesses to gain partnerships with DECA local chapters through membership levels that require business panels, internship opportunities, and financial support. In order to establish this, I will create a database of prospective business partners that can be given out to DECA local chapters. I will also aid you in developing ideas, templates, and strategies for how to reach out to local businesses to form partnerships. I hope that these experiences enhance your networking skills so you can use them in the real world. Reach out to me anytime!
Viveka Sinha
Vice President Chapter Development
Hey Maryland DECA! My name is Viveka Sinha and I’m excited to serve as your 2022-23 Vice President of chapter development. This upcoming year, I intend to establish new chapters across Maryland to expand the DECA community. I plan to create a roleplay and exam studying guide in order to make resources more accessible to students. I would also like to coordinate networking workshops with professionals to facilitate internship and mentorship opportunities for students. I want to enable members to collaborate across chapters around common goals and interests to amplify their voice, further their initiative and bond as a community. Reach out to me anytime to talk! I can’t wait to meet all of you guys in person.
Lucia Gutierrez
VP Public Relations
Hey Maryland DECA! My name is Lucia Gutierrez, and I'm very excited to be serving as your 2022-2023 Vice President of Public Relations. This year, I want to see Maryland DECA grow, while making Maryland DECA the most connected and inclusive state chapter there is. I plan on increasing the communication between Maryland DECA and every individual Maryland DECA member. I intend on supporting smaller chapters as well as providing more help and information for new members. I’m thrilled to see what Maryland DECA accomplishes this year as our events transition back in-person! Feel free to reach out to me whenever!
Angelina Xu
Region One Vice President
Hi Maryland DECA! My name is Angelina Xu and I am so excited to serve as your 2022-2023 Region 1 Vice President. The upcoming school year will be filled with in-person regional and state conferences after years of virtual alternatives, which makes it my utmost priority. The event I am most looking forward to planning is the 2023 Regional Conference, where I will make sure it is a comfortable environment where all students can try events for the very first time, attend workshops with professionals in the field, and network with other chapters. Alongside that, I am working on connecting Region 1 with DECA alumni and current chapter officers to provide training workshops for roleplays and written events so that you can be ready for SCDC, ICDC, and beyond. I will stay in touch with all DECA chapters and members to solve any concerns so that I can make next year with DECA the best for you.
